Phew~ Finally, my life as a primary school teacher has finally ended on Wednesday, which was 21st of April.
After 8 days of teaching at the school, I wish to conclude what I feel being a teacher.
First of all, nowadays, being a teacher is no longer a noble profession. A teacher's job is supposed to educate the young generations and bestow everything they know upon the students. However, it is not the case that is happening in the schools today... Apart from teaching the students, the teachers still have a lot of paperworks to do; to write reports; to train the students for numerous competitions; to attend some courses, to go for meeting; and some other jobs that, in my opinion, should be done by the school clerks. As a result, sometimes the teachers have to neglect the students just to accomplish the other unnecessary tasks. Then, why must we hire the school clerks as the teachers are doing their jobs?
Secondly, I miss the good old time when I was still studying at my alma mater - SJK (C) LUM HUA. When I was teaching at Sin Min, I sometimes spent my free time walking around the school. One day, I passed-by a Year 1 class, noticing all the kids were sitting on the floor in the front of the class, listening to their teacher. This scene immediately recalled the moment when I was a Year 1 student, sitting on a piece of cardboard prepared by my mum, in the front of the class, paying attention to my teacher's lesson. Besides, during recess, I saw some parents going to the canteen and bringing breakfast for their lovely children. I then remembered that back to my primary school life, my mum, together with some other adults, used to stand outside the back gate of my school, holding a container of noodles and waiting for me. When the school bell rang for recess, I would quickly rush to the back gate to enjoy my breakfast.
Thirdly, being a kid is so good. A kid is always active, playful and energetic. During the recess, the school, which was initially deadly silent, immediately turns noisy and cheerful. The kids were waiting for this moment, the moment when they could finally have a nice chat or play with their friends. Best of all, they could have their breakfast and snacks! Honestly, I was pleased when I saw the kids playing and chasing each other at the grassy field, although it was noisy. It was simply a sign of joy, happiness and relaxation. It was completely a paradise as compared to the materialistic working world. How nice!
Well, being a teacher is just two sides of a coin. It has both pros and cons. Good things, just like what I mentioned above; bad thing, I have to face the naughty and mischievious kids in the class and endure their sort of "monkey" behaviour. After all, being a teacher is totally a new and fresh experience. Not many people can have this kind of experience~ I badly want to paint my life colourfully and make my life as interesting as possible so I will have no regret in my life.
Life is a learning process. Any encounters along the path make ponder the meaning of life – hopefully make me a happy soul who lives my life to the fullest.
