Life as a Primary School Teacher

I have been asked to take over a primary school teacher to teach in a primary school, namely SJK (c) Sin Min, which is just a stone's throw from my house, for 2 weeks. Sin Min is just near my neighbourhood, but I never entered until today, I set foot in the vicinity of the school compound for the very first time.

The teacher I am taking over, whom I was told that she is sitting for a test for about 2 weeks. Hence, she sought my help to take over her to teach her students. Fortunately, she is an English teacher, and I have a considerably good command of English so teaching English is not a big deal to me. The only problem is what am I going to teach the kids as I am used to teach secondary school students? I cannot teach them something that is too difficult, but something that is simple enough and ample for their capacity of understanding. In short, I cannot show off... XD

Anyway, I do not care much about it, as long as I get the experience as a teacher and understand what a teacher's life is about.

Based on what I experienced today, being a teacher, the experience was simply new, fresh and incredible. I earned the respect from the students wherever I was, no matter I was in the class or walking at the corridors. "Good morning, sir!" or “老师早” was what ceaselessly bombarded my ears this whole morning. Best of all, at the corridors, I encountered some students, who bowed and greeted me! To be honest, I enjoyed it, I felt like the King of the World!

However, based on the experience I had when I was teaching the students, frankly, it was simply appalling... To put it simply, an equation can tell how I feel, KIDS = MONKEYS. I do not intend to offend anyone, but this is my true feeling. The students................. Sigh, mere words cannot fully describe the actual situation. I just could not tolerate their damn childish (I know they are kids but this is the only word I can describe) and ridiculous behaviours, like asking and talking nonsense. Well, at least this experience makes me realise that I am not suitable to be a primary school teacher.

Well, I think this is all for now. I am going to bed as I still have to go to school tomorrow. If I have any other interesting stories to tell, I will write in this blog again. Good night and see you again! ^^
